Today 30th. January, 2011

Ready, steady , roarrrrrrr….screeammmmm and gooooooo….that is how I like my car performance to be…the best out of it. So today is the day for me to get the feeling right from start of the day till 13th February, 2011. Hahaha ….

Who? Me, Syed Hamid…the ‘DERIVER’ not the ‘STIG’

Where? Alpha Car Auto Centre.

When? 30th. January, 2011.

Why? To change to CASTROL 5W-40 , 4L Fully Synthetic.

That’s the thing going on today for me and the Proton Wira 1.3Gli, heading to Alpha Car Auto Centre, Kota Damansara to get the car oil change to CASTROL 5W-40.

Well, searching the car centre is quit a though thing because I’m not very familiar with the place but finally I end up there. Please Sir, step out and let us do the job. So I say, lets get the job done. There you are, about 45 minutes, the oil changed, oil filter

done and don’t forget to sign the letter Sir, because I was so anxious to test, I almost forgot to do that.

Out of the shop, straight to the NKVE exit Kota Damansara heading to Ulu Kelang via DUKE. Vrooooommmm…120 km/h(NKVE) and 140 km/h (DUKE)….temperature high..engine running smooth..so far (virgin oil I guess).

Pass thru DUKE, 140 km/h….rain pouring and road getting cold but still engine running as before….again…virgin oil…not even yet a full day.

Suddenly…….dddamnnnnnn…….my trip meter gone wild and snap the cable…there goes the mileage

Counter and there goes the costing to count for….

Next day, went up to Bukit Bintang ..another testing to do….the result?...thumbs up…temperature idle.

Evening….going home Sungai Buloh via old road heading Kuala Selangor. A bit of traffic but temperature gauge shows a bit high than usual…oh no!! Does the oil burn too much and causing heating or the engine cannot take on the oil performance??? I stop a side and take a look….guess what I forgot to put the engine oil cap. (I open the cap when I had a break in Ulu Kelang just to see inside the engine..whether there’s smell or burning happen) but the car runs as usual that time with no coughing at all. Well take that to begin with for the day..with CASTROL.

Now….presenting.…

‘JOURNEY : THE CRONOLOGY BEGIN’

31st. to 3rd. January, 2011

As usual, Home-Office-Home…about 110 km/day with full fuel top-up, radio off.(that’s the tip given..hahahaa). Monday to Thursday..about 550 km. So far so good.

Traffics….no traffics…traffics…no traffics…temperature fine. No smells or smoke from exhaust….still have the ‘ori’ colour of the oil.

THE CRONOS CONTINUE’S…….

4th to 6th January, 2011

Going north, Sg. Petani. Journey start at 7.30 am…fuel top-up full, engine oil check , OK… radiator check….OK…tyre pressure….not sure. Full load ,2 adults , 2 teenagers and 2 kids. What a pressure…

I guess this journey gonna be really something to test the oil ….for another heavy solid round. Running the car at 110 km/h steadily and constantly..(bole pecaya ka?...with no cars in front…) well….to be honest 160 km/h…..to feel, see and believe that the engine oil can withstand the condition and the max test that I can do with car.

STILL WITH THE CRONOS…

Reach Sg.Petani around 4.00 pm (few break at the R&R all the way). Check-in and rest…while the engine still hot, I take out the oil stick and so far no burning smells , no less oil and the colour still intact..ori.

Next day, traffice jam heading Penang and a bit congested in Penang town itself but temperature still as usual. Couple of hours in Penang,( of course Nasi Kandar and ferry is on my mind…not just testing the car’s stomach).

Heading back to Sg.Petani. Sunday, 6th Jan…the wedding day of my wife’s cousin at noon and heard that the Hi-way NKVE is already in a mess traffic jam towards south. Again, this is a really opportunity for me to test the oil again. Just after we finish with the event, we head back to Kuala Lumpur via local road and highway. Fill-up full tank and no top-up or additional oil needed..guess what…no less of engine oil in the engine…IMPRESSIVE.

STILL WITH THE CRONOS…

So the story goes….from Sg.Petani to Nibong Tebal…heavy load with additional ‘jeruk’ on board..hehe using the local road and pass thru Parit Buntar – Taiping – Sg.Siput – Ipoh. Along the way, Sg.Siput – Ipoh is the worst traffic jam where we spend about 3 hours with snail moving pace till we reach exit to the NKVE. There, another crawling traffic..with really really not more than 10-15 km/h speed. Aircon ON…radio OFF….no rain. Temperature still at the same level. Till we reach Ladang Bikam R&R onwards, then we can speed up aroung 80-100 km/h and Tg.Malim onward for 100-130 km/h speed. Another test for the oil during night time with the cooler outside temperature vs hottest inside temperature..i mean the engine not my anger ok…

After almost 12 hours on the road, we finally reach home in Sg,Buloh at 3.30 am, Monday, 7th January. We were really tired and just went up to the house to get a very nice and cosy sleep while leaving all the luggage in the car. But I manage and quickly to check the oil stick, and the engine oil still the very same from day one.

The very morning I wake up..at 11 am…I went up to the car and open up the engine bonnet to check on the engine oil..i want to see the very first hand after a break and rest and some worst and extreme conditions passed. To my surprise, the oil still maintains its original colour..with no less of oil reduce and a very easy start of the car. It is really gentle and soft to your car’s engine

THANKS AND THE CREDITS GOES TO…

Well, what can I say more about the car…opsss the engine oil…named CASTRO…oppss I did it again,.( less sleep and very, very tired)..the liquid engineering named CASTROL.

CASTROL name you can trust for longer engine life, maximum performance and economical savings in any given conditions. Not just for your car , it is meant for you. It’s more than just oil, it’s liquid engineering.

Hey, forgot to tell ya all…I owned a Toyota Supra Tom’s JGTC in my garage…my PSP games and in my dreams…
